About the PGA of BC Golfathon for ALS
The PGA of BC Golfathon for ALS is a unique event at golf facilities across British Columbia that occurs around June, July, and August each year. The golf community witnessed the devastating impact of ALS when Tom Watson’s long-time caddy, Bruce Allen, was diagnosed with the disease and eventually passed away from it. The global awareness of ALS significantly increased thanks to the viral social media phenomenon, the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge.
During the Golfathon, PGA golf professionals pledge to play golf to help raise awareness and proceeds, using their muscles to support those who have lost theirs to ALS. All donations raised from the PGA of BC Golfathons for ALS directly benefit individuals living with ALS and their families and caregivers in British Columbia and the Yukon, ensuring they receive the best quality of life possible.
You can learn more about the ALS Society of BC’s Programs & Services by clicking here, which are available at no cost to people affected by ALS, thanks partly to the fundraising efforts of the PGA of BC.
The ALS Society of BC is committed to finding a cure for ALS through funding research through ALS BC PROJECT HOPE while advocating for and supporting people living with ALS.
